Standards

These low-rise (under six storeys), purpose-built flats are typically of cavity-wall, brick-and-block construction, with a pitched, or flat roof.  The floors are probably concrete on both the ground floor and upper storeys. Typical features could include fireplaces for the older versions, and/or balconies.  The original window frames were often metal or timber and single glazed.  There could be extensive opportunities to improve the thermal insulation of these properties, which were typically built from the 1950s onwards.
